This sidebar is the gateway to your font collection. Apart from letting you search using metadata queries, it lists fonts already added to the database and fonts available on the local system and mounted remote systems. Functionality is divided into three tabs.
Fonts already added to the database are listed here, sorted alphabetically. They are grouped on three levels: initial letter, name of the typeface, and the variant (style). Activation and deactivation of fonts is described in the section called “Activating and deactivating fonts”.
opens a drop-down menu with items controlling the level of detail. toggles checkboxes in front of font family faces, allowing you to selectively activate or deactivate them.
In this tab Fontmatrix renders short text samples with every
filtered font, sorted alphabetically. The text and font size of
previews can be changed below the previews. By default previews render
the names of the fonts themselves, using special placeholders:
<name>, <family> and
<variant>.
